The Dollar Wallet – Made in the U.S.A.

by Kyle J. Britt

The Dollar Wallet is a simple, functional, well-designed wallet that is made in the U.S.A. And it starts at just $1.

Now including international shipping options and new rewards!

Hi, my name’s Kyle and I wanted to make a wallet that is simple, functional, affordable, well-designed, and made in the U.S.A.

The Dollar Wallet is the answer to the desire for a thin-profile, minimalistic wallet that doesn’t charge a premium for simplicity.

The Dollar Wallet costs $1. It is made from high-quality, American-made fiber board and non-roll elastic. It’s a smidgeon bigger than a credit card. It’s durable, reliable, and fits up to 8-10 credit cards and some cash. Yep, still just a buck.

The Dollar Wallet Plus is like its older cousin. It’s a little more mature, more refined. The Dollar Wallet Plus can be upgraded and customized to your heart’s content. It starts at two dollars and is made of high-quality American-sourced plywood and the same non-roll elastic available to upgrade with multiple colors and patterns.

These rewards will feature the unique look and feel of vinyl. This is our vinyl prototype (missing the notch in the top, which will be in the final version)

We’ve made our way through about a half a dozen prototypes to the version you see today. It started as a sketch in my notebook at work, first laid out horizontally, then as I shared the idea with a few friends, shifted to vertical.

The sketches that started it all.The sketches that started it all.

Then I made a cardboard sample which lasted all of one morning before I got excited, drove to A.C. Moore, bought some craft plywood and carved a new sample in the workshop at work on my lunch hour. I carried that prototype for a week as I researched options for final materials. I settled on 3/32″ Taskboard for the Dollar Wallet and 1/16″ Aircraft craft plywood for the Dollar Wallet Plus. Both offer rigidity and durability from a high-quality material that will thrive in your pocket all day and a high value to cost ratio to keep production costs low enough to make the Dollar Wallet affordable for everyone. I rented time on a local laser cutter to make production prototypes of both materials, stained them, and began testing in my pocket and with friends.

A few of the steps along the wayA few of the steps along the way

The production prototypes you see are laser cut, as the final version will be. The only minor modifications remaining to be made before production are tightening up the notches for the elastic on the sides to fit the band more snugly, and using better stitching to secure the elastic.

Production prototypes are expensive. In order to make this product a reality we need to use the funds from this Kickstarter to purchase our supplies in bulk and purchase a laser cutter to install in our garage studio allow us to make the wallets as efficiently as possible.

Production of the Dollar Wallet starts with the raw boards, which get laser cut into the Dollar Wallet shape. Meanwhile, the elastic bands are cut and sewn into a loop. Then the Dollar Wallets are stained, and if they will be laser etched, put back into the laser cutter to be etched, then clear coated to protect the exposed etching. Then the elastic is placed in the notches and the Dollar Wallet is complete.

After the success of our kickstarter will will immediately order the supplies and laser cutter, with an anticipated delivery date of mid-October for our Early Bird backers and mid-November for most backers. The clear intention of timeline is to make the Dollar Wallet available in time for Christmas so that those of you who are inclined can give the Dollar Wallet as a gift to the minimalist-loving friend or family member of yours!

Prolight Boards saving lives by making riders more visible at night

Manufacturing LED Lit Professional Skateboards for visibility at dusk and night.

Hi, I’m Abraham Carattini, founder, inventor, visionary, patent holder, athelete and member of consortium comprised of inventors, NASA aerospace engineers, contract and patent attorneys, concept marketers and product development teams. Partnered with an engineering specialist and owner of LED lighting company.

Prolight Boards

In September 2008, Abraham Carattini, founder of PROLIGHT BOARDS, INC., was returning home late one night. While only a few blocks from his home, which is near a skating park, he pulled up to a red light to make a right turn. Thinking all was clear, he began the turn and almost hit a skater who seemed to appear out of nowhere. Abraham was shaken by the thought that the skater could have been seriously injured. He wondered how many other skaters had not been quite as fortunate. From this experience he came up with the idea of an LED lighted skateboard. Immediately, he began working on a prototype that would provide this safety feature without compromising the integrity of the board. After research revealed the breadth and scope of the skateboarding industry, Abraham realized that he had a solid, if not revolutionary, idea.

PROLIGHT BOARDS, INC. is an innovative sport-board lighting company that holds patented LED lighting technology for skateboards.

What We Need & What You Get

These are the various phases we’re looking to provide 100,000+ funding towards…

Once launched in the United States, ProLight plans to expand internationally, initially targeting Australia where night skateboarding has been banned due to accidents and injuries resulting from skaters not being visible at night. The law provides the perfect opportunity to highlight ProLight’s unique attributes that blend safety and creative inspiration to revolutionize the skateboarding industry.

Other Ways You Can Help

A lot of lives have been lost surrounding drivers and skateboarder related accidents at night. You, yourself might know someone who has been gravely injured or lost they’re life because a similar accident.

In 2011, there were 42 reported cases of skateboarders killed in California, Texas, and Virginia. The numbers continue to grow in 2012, and 2013 due to poor visibility. City ordinances are being placed, to prohibit skateboarders from riding after sunset. On April 15, 2013 a 12 year-old-girl was killed in Florida crossing a road at night and May 4, 2013 An 8-year-old Jefferson Hills boy died after being hit by a car Friday night. These numbers continue to soar. Crystal Guard Zero! Ahhhh! INDIEGOGO! GO NOW!

Crystal Guard Zero – Chemical that cleans & turns surfaces into crystal glass

Crystal Guard Zero is a revolutionary chemical invented in Japan that cleans and turns any surfaces into crystal glass. Ideal for cars, bikes, gadgets, and etc.

Crystal Guard -It's Real Liquid Crystal Glass

Our new product “Crystal Guard Zero” is a very unique chemical that cleans & turns any surfaces into real crystal glass.

Before we go into the details of our new chemical, I would like you to know about its base ingredient “Crystal Guard”. Its performance is amazing:

1. Cleanability - Water sheeting effect 2. Glossiness - Gloss retention 100% 3. Durability - Mohs hardness scale 6

Crystal Guard is primarily formulated for automobiles but its use can be extended for motorcycles, bikes, boats, air planes, sinks, furniture, luggages, smart phones, gadgets, watches, cameras and all your accessories.

You don’t need to worry about errors or smudges, anyone can use with confidence and ease.

You car will look like this. Or even your smart phone will look like this.

That was our original Crystal Guard and we had to transcend our own limit. After experimenting and refining Crystal Guard for 10 years, we came up with a new formula that merges the sealant and cleaning ingredients into one powerful and harm free chemical.

We now need your support to launch this revolutionary product “Crystal Guard Zero” into the global market and to realize the ultimate dream of the late inventor.

Wether you have a car or not, we believe you’ll love it.

What is Crystal Guard?

Our original Crystal Guard is a revolutionary chemical product that was invented by a Japanese chemist. The power of Crystal Guard lies in its ability to create a micro-thin crystal glass layer bonded on any non-absorbent surfaces in normal temperature.

20-30% more gloss and 800% more durability

Crystal Guard doesn’t oxidize or deteriorate unlike wax, oil or, silicon-based products. It adds 20 – 30% more gloss to clear coated auto bodies. Besides that, it enhances surface durability by800% (more than all teflon-based polymer sealants) and makes the surfaces resistant to acide and heat (up to 1,500F).

That’s not all. Crystal Guard also fills micro disperities and reduces friction making your surface as smooth as this:

Crystal glass makes any surfaces this smooth

To understand Crystal Guard, let’s delve into more details.

3 Big Advantages of Crystal Guard

Let’s look at the 3 major and proven advantages of Crystal Guard.

1. High Cleanability – Water sheeting effect

Crystal Guard is not “repellent”; it is “hydrophobic” in nature like crystal glass.

Crystal Guard is Hydrophobic instead of repellent.

Here’s the difference between Crystal Guard and other normal sealants.

A repellent sealant or wax beads the water, which means it keeps water on the surface and attracts more dust & dirt. It causes stains on the paint and possibly accelerates oxidation in the worst scenario.

On the other hand, Crystal Guard creates a hydrophobic layer that sheets water off your car surface. It makes it super easy to clean your car with tap water only. Plus, Crystal Guard reduces static charges on surfaces, thus, making them attract less dirt.

To demonstrate the cleanability of Crystal Guard, we simulated dirt deposits with a white board marker on a test plate. Repellent sealant and wax applied on the left side and Crystal Guard applied on the right side. We only soaked and shook the plate several times in water. Watch this:

Repellent sealant and wax on the left, and hydrophobic Crystal Guard on the right.

I think you already know that glass cups are easier to clean compared to ceramic cups. If you want to see that in action, watch video on the top.

2. Glossiness –100% Gloss retention

Crystal Guard adds and prolongs the gloss on the bodies of old and brand new cars alike.

Crystal Guard has gloss retention 100%

Crystal Guard contains NO oil or wax based ingredients. The Japanese National Standard anti-weathering test (JIS K 2396) has proven that Crystal Guard layers don’t deteriorate and as matter of fact, they retain 100% gloss unless physically damaged.

Every subsequent application leaves you with super clear mirror-like reflection like the one below:

mirror-looking reflection of Crystal Guard

3. Durability – Mohs hardness scale 6

The Japanese national standard anti-weathering test (JIS K 2396) further proved that the surface of Crystal Guard layer has a hardness of 6 in the Mohs scale. This is equivalent to the hardness of a 9H pencil in the Japanese standard or the hardness of 11H in the USA. When you seal your paint with Crystal Guard, you will effectually protect the surfaces from swirls in the future.

Crystal Guard's hardness is 6 in Mohs scale.

The Crystal Guard layer is also acid resistant and heat registant up to 1,500 F. No stain is left even after bird droppings.

Evolving to much better chemical

We are not entirely new in the automotive chemical industry. Over the last 10 years, our products have relieved hundreds of thousands of Japanese citizens from the tiresome process of wax-on & wax-off karate-kid duties.

To deliver greater value to our customers, we continually improve the performance of our Crystal Guard line of products. Our products keep evolving and we now want to usher a new revolutionary chemical into the global market.

Let me introduce our new product, Crystal Guard Zero.

Crystal Guard Zero - Compatible solution between cleansing and durability capabilities

Crystal Guard Zero

We have optimized the new Crystal Guard Zero by combining two powerful yet contradictory properties “durability” and “detergency”.

Every time you buy some “wax & shampoo” products, you have to trade-off either of the two properties to avoid a conflict. Do you know why? The reason is simple; a detergent’s work is to remove wax and dirt deposits.

Though Crystal Guard contains no wax or oil, it has the ability of removing dirt or oil off surfaces and creating a crystal glass layer on any surface.

We have tested over 1,000 patterns of Crystal Guard Zero prototype for the last 10 years and we want to assure that there was no compromise in safety and performance at all.

1,000 experiments for Crystal Guard Zero

After a decade of reseach and experimentation, we completed the new formula.

Clean, Shine, and Protect in One Step!

The new Crystal Guard Zero is easy to use. You only need to spray and wipe it like any window or bathroom cleaneing agent in your home. That is all.

Crystal Guard Zero is easy. Just spray and wipe.

You don’t need to apply any pressure when wiping a surface. The chemical creates a crystal layer bonded on paint once it touches the surface.

This new product will relieve you off regular headaches and the burden of washing your car. The beauty of it all is that it cleans, polishes, and protects your car without the need of water, even in the middle of desert.

That’s not all.

Crystal Guard Zero will save you hundreds of dollars that you would have otherwise spent in detailing and waxing your car week-in and week-out. Just grab s bottle of Crystal Guard Zero and spray & wipe with ease.

Crystal Guard is a multi-purpose product that has been optimized for automobiles, motorcycles, glasses, watches, sinks, luggages, counters, and several other accessories.

Saves your energy and time while you enjoy polishing your gadgets with it 🙂

10 Detailed advantages of Crystal Guard

1. Cleanability – Water sheeting effect
2. Glossiness – Gloss retention 100%
3. Durability – Mohs hardness scale 6

We have already mentioned the 3 major benefits in fair details above. Now, let’s look at 7 more that you need to know.

4. ZERO minute for application

“Zero” is for “zero minute for application.” The best thing about Crystal Guard Zero is that you do not even need to worry about the sealant application process. All you have to do is to spray & wipe. That’s all.

car wax versus Crystal Guard Zero

If you apply it to your car severally, it will create a crystal layer equivalent to our primary product Crystal Guard One, which is the base ingredient of Zero.

(One and Pro also need only 5 minutes for each application.)

5. Expert results and affordable price

Crystal Guard Zero is a cost-effective cleaning product. Each 270ml (9.13oz.) bottle will retail for $27.95 which is more than enough to cater for multiple cleaning and polishing needs. Multiple applications guarantee professional results and a durable crystal glass layer which would cost you over $100 or more at car detailers.

When it comes to performance, there is no alternative or replica of Crystal Guard. All other products sold at major retail stores like Amazon for $15 to $60 are based on wax or silicone. Unlike Crystal Guard, their gloss retention and cleanability are not proven which means they oxidize upon application.

6. Real crystal glass

As we have mentioned, Crystal Guard turns into a smooth and genuine micro thin crystal glass layer just like your watch. Once you apply it, the chemical will remove micro disparities on your surface leaving it smooth and flat.

Do you want a genuine proof of crystal glass? Just burn the chemical at a temperature of 5,500F (3,000C) as shown below, and it will turn into real crystal glass.

7. Build up your crystal glass layer yourself

All wax or sealant starts oxidizing and deteriorating right from the first application. Worse still, wax needs to be removed before a subsequent application and this increases the possibility of damages surfaces.

On the other hand, application of fixative sealant creates stacked-up smudgy layers which cause garish reflection on any surface. The situation doesn’t improve when you hire detailer because they won’t let you maintain the automobile surface yourself.

Unlike wax or sealant, Crystal Guard never oxidizes or deteriorates with time. In fact, the more you apply the thicker the crystal glass layer you’ll get. Every layers bonds with preceding layer create super clear reflections on your surfaces.

Crystal Guard layer build up as 1 layer.

You can now see why Crystal Guard is the only one product that gets better with multiple applications.

Unlike wax, multiple applications of Crystal Guard will fill swirls creating smooth and durable surfaces. In fact, it keeps filling swirls unless you physically rub or damage the surfaces.

Crystal Guard fills swirls

8. Greater versatility

Crystal Guard can create a crystal glass layer on any surfaces so long as it’s not absorbent. You can apply it on plastics, carbon fiber, chrome plates, or wood panels. Interestingly, some people apply crystal Guard on gadgets such as smartphones.

I got inspired to apply it on my Galaxy Note II a couple of time and it’s now super slippery to carry without a cover.

Crystal Guard reflection on smart phone.

9. Environmentally safe and ecological

Crystal Guard contains no compounds or solvents. It’s a biodegradable chemical whose ecological safety has been tested & proven already in the USA at Bureau Veritas (ex. MTL-ACTS). Crystal Guard has no known harm at all and thus, it’s EPA & TSCA compliant.

10. No need for car wax anymore

You wanna be a life-time Karate Kid?

If you have been struggling with car wax then you will be glad to know that Crystal Guard eliminates the need for car wax, once and for all. You don’t have to struggle wax-on and wax-off your car week in week out or worry about smudges in your surfaces. The improved Crystal Guard is easy to apply and wipe.

Just say good-bye to car wax today. Spray & wipe Crystal Guard Zero while humming your favorite song.

By the way, this is not our 1st. challenge

I know you are wondering what Crystal Guard is and how it came into being. Well, the idea of Crystal Guard was conceived and implemented in Japan almost a decade ago. Soon after, it was introduced in California in the year 2002.

Crystal Guard in 2002

The original Crystal Guard was a bit expensive for most consumers, and to be honest it was not successful. We agonized over the decision to scale down operations and move our core business operation back to Japan in 2003.

Fortunately, Crystal Guard was well accepted by Japanese consumers. Crystal Guard One & Pro are well known in the Japanese automotive market and are currently available at nation-wide retail stores.

Our 2nd. challenge to the world

We’ve never given up on our desire for global distribution. After 10 years of experimentation, we successfully invented a new formula for our first global product.

Unfortunately, the original inventor/chemist passed on after we moved our operations to Japan. This was a difficult time because were struggling to satisfy the needs of our overseas customers overseas. Though we regret the decade long withdrawal of our products, we are excited to re-launch the next generation Crystal Guard products in the United States and launch it in the global market.

Crystal Guard Now in 2013

Crystal Guard has now evolved. We have been working with the inventor’s son to re-launch it again with much more powerful chemical. That’s why we need YOU TODAY!

Why do we need you?

We need your earnest support so that we can launch Crystal Guard in the global market. If we can do this, then we will make the dream of our dear departed inventor come true at last.

Our goal covers a minimum initial cost to produce and launch Crystal Guard Zero.

To keep the retail price under $30, we need to produce at least 2 barrels for EACH primary ingredient at the factory. The total cost will exceed tens of thousand dollars.

We’ve already completed label design and the only thing that remains is to get a minimum order of 10,000 bottles and 50,000 film labels.

Label design is completed already, but we also need to order a minimum lot of 10,000 bottles and 50,000 film labels.

$25,000 covers:

  • Meeting initial cost of chemical production
  • Printing labels
  • Securing bottles
  • US fulfillment capabilities
  • US UPC code registration at GS1 for barcodes
  • Support our unpaid maid girl, Chris Talguard

We work with a special and iconic maid girl, Chris Talguard, who voluntarily posed for the introduction video that you have seen. Unfortunately, we have not been able to reward her for her adorable performance because we operate on an extremely limited budget. It’s our earnest desire to reward her with a portion of the pledges that we receive as a token of appreciation for her outstanding performance.

By the way, without her help, our other maid would have looked like this in the cover!

Most Choose the Beach to Say Goodbye to Summer. A Select Few Choose 25 Packs of Wolves in the Deep Woods of New Hampshire.

August 8, 2013 – Conway, NH/Hampton, NH – While many happily choose the soft sand, warm sun, and ocean breezes to spend the last precious weeks of summer, a group of friends dubbed the “Extreme Makeover Team for the Animal World ” say their perfect way to wave goodbye to summer is spending it with 90 wolves in the desolate and deep woods of New Hampshire.

The Project Pawsitive Foundation (, a small, non-profit organization that started renovating animal rescues on the verge of collapse and closure back in 2009, will be building 15 enclosed shelters at the end of the month for the nearly 90 wolves and wolf-hybrid dogs living on the Loki Clan Wolf Refuge ( The refuge is a sanctuary devoted to the protection of wolves and wolf-dogs. Each pack is given an acre of land to run free because these animals are often condemned by law and would otherwise have no home or protection.

The Project Pawsitive team will also be camping right on the refuge surrounded by the animals they are helping. “I can’t say I’m not nervous about being awoken by the howling of wolves feet from my tent,” said Jill Sullivan Grueter, Team Leader and Creator of The Project Pawsitive Foundation. “But, this project is taking us all way out of our comfort zones and that’s when we learn the biggest life lessons.”

The team of close friends is made up of a master carpenter, master electrician, designer, jack of all trades, and project organizer. They have traveled nationally, but mostly perform their renovations for animal rescues in desperate need in New England due to donation struggles. Sullivan Grueter acknowledges tight budgets and low donations keep their work boots sitting idly-by much more than they want. “We could be doing renovations every single day for the rest of our lives and that’s what we want to be doing,” she said. “Maybe we should have bought a Powerball ticket?”

“We raise the money to perform free-of-charge renovations, round up volunteers, and get the job done in a matter of days,” said Sullivan Grueter, who started the organization after the death of her dad and rescue dog. She left her successful business career and never looked back even when not taking a salary for years. “If we can help the lives of animals and people by keeping shelters open and able to adopt – then we’ve made a difference.”

The Loki Clan Refuge project is just one of three rehab projects the team is taking on over the next few months. In September, they are renovating a cat shelter at the Humane Society for Greater Nashua ( to enhance the lives of animals who may spend the rest of their days at the shelter and the Center for Wildlife ( in York, Maine in the fall to add a new roof to a cabin that rehabilitates falcons and rehab a cabin that nurses injured squirrels and hedgehogs back to health before releasing them back to their natural habitats.

The organization is asking for volunteer help and donations for their upcoming projects. To learn more, please visit their website at and click How to Help.

What do a Harley Davidson builder; former English bloke who brews his own beer; ex-military, extreme skier; a designer, and a 3rd degree black belt in karate have in common? They are friends from New Hampshire who give free-of-charge extreme makeovers to animal rescues in need across New England and beyond. They find the money, they find the manpower, and they find the means to do it. Why? Because it’s the right thing to do.

It all started in 2009, when this group came together to renovate a barn in Epping, New Hampshire that saves horses from slaughter, abuse, and neglect. The barn was in rough shape. The roof was leaking and on the verge of collapse, there were no signs of running water or electricity out to the paddocks, the fencing was in shambles, and the volunteers were losing sleep over the amount of work that needed to be done on the facility with dwindling donations due to a down economy.

So, what did Project Pawsitive do? They used their tenured experience in carpentry, construction, electrical work, and project management to gain attention and rope in the help of one of the largest home supply stores in the country along with over 80 local volunteers and they got the job done. The result? Any awesome renovation, restored hope, and renewed faith. All in the matter of a week and to the tune of about $30,000.

Project Pawsitive is a 501c3, non-profit and all donations are tax-deductible. Support the upcoming projects today at and click on How to Help.

Crossing The Arctic Circle: Sharing a photo journey with other daydreamers

Three weeks ago I resigned from my job to follow my passion for photography. This is my first project and with your help I hope to share it with others!

About the Crossing The Arctic Circle (and me) :

I am Thomas Moon – a professional landscape photographer, avid explorer, and newly “ex-corporate” wilderness lover. After over a year of planning and overcoming a bit of fear, I took the leap last week to follow a new path and pursue my passion for landscape photography. Since this passion took hold in 2008, I have traveled over 200,000 miles exploring distant places around North America. Photographing nature and being in the wild has always excited me and I love sharing distant places with others. I am working hard to transition my career into photography with this first project and together we will be helping wilderness conservation groups with a portion of the proceeds from the project. I have saved up some money to get me started, but I can’t do this without your help.

Last week, the chains from my cubicle wall were officially unshackled and I have been working feverishly since to start this project! I would LOVE for you to come along on this journey with me so that I can share the experience with as many people as possible and help protect the environment for other nature lovers. Five percent of all proceeds will go to the Alaska Conservation Foundation ( and Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society ( to help support efforts to protect the wilderness there for future generations.

In return for your contribution, I will be sharing blog updates and digital galleries along the way, as well as other unique photo perks below. Your support will make this project a reality!

For Updates on Crossing the Arctic Circle, including a photo journal, please visit my other page at

  • Digital Gallery: samples

Come Along For The Adventure!

Crossing the Arctic Circle is a 45 day photo project about exploring the vast stretches of untouched wilderness in Alaska and Northwestern Canada and sharing the experience with photo enthusiasts, wanderers and daydreamers at heart. I will be shooting with a Canon Rebel and a GigapanPro to take panoramic shots. This adventure will encompass pictures from British Columbia, Yukon, and Northwest Territories in Canada, all the way above the Arctic Circle to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska on the Beaufort Sea.

This project is the first part of a series that will also encompass many of the National Parks in Canada including Banff, Gros Morne (Newfoundland) and the Gaspe Peninsula in Quebec later this summer/fall.

  • This journey is extremely important to me because it represents a gigantic shift in my life – from working in Corporate America and leaving a steady pay check, to following my passion for landscape photography and sharing it with people like you. The project coincides with my 30th birthday, a self-imposed deadline I gave myself to take this leap.
  • My goal is to visit some of the more remote parks in Alaska – by way of car, plane, ferry, and on foot. I will be traveling through Wrangell-Elias National Park, Denali National Park, Gates of the Arctic National Park, Kenai Fjords, and Kluane National Park (Canada), at a minimum. Photos from all locations will be shared in an online blog during and after the trip, as well as separate online galleries of landscape and panoramic images. Perks for larger contributions will include 8×10 and 16×20 prints on stained/sanded wood panels.
  • Between Fairbanks, AK north to Prudhoe Bay, I will be traveling on the Dalton Highway which is among the most desolate and northern most roads in the world. The road meanders about 500 miles through the Arctic Circle. The journey to Gates of the Arctic National Park will involve a 10 plus mile hike into the park from this highway.
  • The trek to Wrangell Elias National Park will share scenes from the area that has one of the largest collections of 14,000 ft. peaks in North America. If this projected is fully funded, I will also be sharing photos from Katmai and Lake Clark National Parks which will involve flying above and landing somewhere in both parks.

Note: I have already completed one portion of the project in early July, traveling up the Dempster Highway in Yukon and Northwest Territories to Canada’s northernmost city, Inuvik. This was an epic journey and the most beautiful place I have been to date. (Pictures directly below)

What We Need & What You Get

The total budget for this project including incurred costs to date and money from my savings = $7,050

  • $80 US National Park Pass and $70 Canadian National Park Pass
  • $1500 from my own budget to defray some of the photo making costs
  • $500 supplies to prep for production include the following:

Plywood, canvas, stain for wood panels, resin for finish, blowtorch for removing bubbles from resin, paint brushes, industrial powered saw to cut wood to size.

Projected Expenses:

  • Gas costs for 12,000 + miles of driving = $2,000 or more
  • Airplane and ferry costs once in Alaska = $1,200 or more

This is a low end estimate. Average costs for a 90-180 min flightseeing tour are between $400 and $800 per person and $200-300 for ferry travel per person. This expense will include flightseeing tours and stops in Katmai, Lake Clark, and summit to Mt. McKinley in Denali National Park – places that cannot be reached by car.

  • 3% Credit Card fee = $200
  • Contribution to Environment Groups = $250 or more
  • 4-9% Indiegogo Fee = $270-600 ($450 avg)
  • Shipping Costs to mail photo books, wood panels, canvas prints = $300 or more (low end)

This is a low end estimate. Books can be shipped media mail, but wood panels costs about 300% more to ship.

  • Professional carpentry work spent creating perks = $500

This includes time spent sanding, cutting, and staining wood for panels as well as mounting photos to the panels. I will be hiring someone to do this work as I work on the photo editing, panoramic creation, and photo book creation.

If I don’t reach the goal amount of $7050, the funds will go to a more limited project throughout Alaska and would likely forgo some of the most remote photography locations such as the Aleutian Islands, Lake Clark and Katmai National Parks. An incredible photo book would still be made along will all other perks and I would instead create the perks primarily on the journey into Gates of the Arctic National Park, Denali National Park, and Wrangell-Elias National Park, all of which can be done with a lesser budget.

Thank you for your support! See you on the road.

Help Build Dog Houses for Rescued Wolf Dogs in Need of Shelter

The Dog House Building Project will ensure that each wolf at Loki Clan Wolf Refuge will be provided with stellar shelter.

WE ARE PROJECT PAWSITIVE! WE ARE A 501c3, non-profit – AND – we are a group of wicked good friends (a wolf pack oursleves!) who dedicate their time and SKILLS to RENOVATING animal rescues in DESPERATE need. You know, like EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER for ANIMAL SHELTERS! Learn more about us. All donations are 100% tax deductible.

The Issue: The Project Pawsitive Team’s next mission is at a wolf dog rescue in Conway, NH called the Loki Clan Wolf Refuge. Over the past 20 years, the Loki Clan Dog Refuge has rescued countless abandoned, neglected, abused, and unwanted wolf dogs. It is a lifelong home to wolf dogs that would otherwise face certain euthanasia. They are condemned by law and the refuge is indispensable for their conservation and protection.

LogoThe Dog House Building Project will ensure that each animal at Loki Clan Wolf Refuge will be provided their own shelter. There are 25 packs of wolf dogs currently on 70 acres of land. Replacement of the old, inadequate dog houses and replacing them with strong, secure, and safe dog houses means that these beautiful animals will be also be secure and safe. These dog houses are needed for the safety and well-being of these amazing creatures that must live out their lives in a protected environment like the Loki Clan Wolf Refuge.

Baby Wolves

The Campaign: All donations go directly to funding Project Pawsitive’s effort to coordinate their part in the project, build as many dog house kits off-site as possible and travel to the refuge’s location to assemble. In addition, your donation helps Project Pawsitive film and produce a webisode to bring greater awareness to the rescue they are helping. This webisode provides great detail about the Loki Clan and how people can support their efforts to save wolf dogs in jeopardy. This additional effort drives greater awareness, donations, and volunteers to the causes Project Pawsitive supports.

Karate KidAfter many hours of hard, dirty work, clearing out debris and installing new flooring at the Salem Animal Rescue League, Project Pawsitive Foundation president Jill Sullivan Grueter looked at her team’s completed project with pride. “I could picture the rescue getting more people in to adopt because the place looked clean. It looked safe,” she gushed in a YouTube chronicle of the project, “It was an awesome feeling.” Animal shelters devote themselves to caring for neglected animals until they can be placed into loving homes, but a lack of funding or natural disasters can leave facilities damaged and potentially unsafe. That’s where the construction experts and business professionals of the Project Pawsitive Foundationteam come in, giving their time and abilities to help shelters stay open and continue their work of saving animals in need. Project Pawsitive Foundation relies on donations and sponsorships, and strives to renovate four or more animal rescues each year.

A Kickstarter Film Documentary about Autism in Las Vegas

Documentary to help autism via the arts and tech in Nevada.

by David Berkowitz

Our goal is to make a documentary about autistic people in Las Vegas, what is being done the programs, people & results, real life.

In April 2012, the Centers for Disease Control announced that 1 in 80 children are diagnosed with autism. This has drawn global attention with over 71 percent of Americans expressing interest in learning more about autism alone. We aim to capture how real autistic people in Las Vegas, NV are dealing with the realty of autism. Personally I have a vested interest in bringing attention to autism. I am a high functioning father of 3 autistic kids and I would like to tell my story of our lives with autism as well as others in Las Vegas and their experiences with autism. In addition we will illustrate what is being done to help autism in Nevada as well especially in programs targeted to music, the arts, dance, music therapy and theater related programs .This film is targeted towards those families impacted by autism. As mentioned earlier I truly have a vested interest in helping bring exposure to autism, autism awareness and the autism programs in Nevada.

I met Temple Grandin a couple of times and she says that arts saved her life. I was in band for 7 years myself and it certainly helped me.

In regards to the documentary it consists of:

1) A overview on some of the autism for profit and nonprofit in the Las Vegas especially the ones that are focused around the arts, music, technology and music therapy as well as respite programs. It will detail what is being done now as what will be done in the next 12 months to improve the lives of people with autism.

2) Interviews with 10+ families that have been affected by autism and their stories especially ones that have experienced beneficial programs involving music and the arts and what can be done to improve them as well as what has been effective.

3) Information on my experience with autism and that of my family as well as my intentions as far as trying to help people with autism via tech, music and the arts. I will elaborate as to our initial plans and long term goals to help autistic people via technology, music and the arts and what it will take to make it happen and the impact on the local autism community as well.

We plan to do local interviews with autism programs that are involved with tech music and the arts. We will talk to families of people with autism, their friends, if we can we will talk to the people with autism as to their thoughts and opinions of the benefits that the arts, autism programs and music have added to their lives and quality of life.

This film explores and will show how art, music and technology can help individuals with autism communicate and express themselves. We will also illustrate the benefits that the families of the folks with autism have as a form of respite and culture too.

We need your help to illustrate how the arts, music and tech have and can improve the lives of those with autism as well as their families.

The following is what we need help with:

We want to get our message out there to as many people as possible. Our intent is to submit the film produce a finished DVD for sale, on the web and maybe a film festival as well.

In order to do the film we need:

-Equipment to film the movie

-Equipment or outside services to edit the film

-Help to review, and make changes to improve the film

-Audio Editing and subtitling

– Final Color Correction

– Audio Mixing

– DVD Replication and Packaging

– Digital Cinematic Package production to screen in cinemas and festivals

– Festival submission costs

We’re asking for the minimum it will cost to get all this done, but every dollar we receive will help us accomplish our goal and distribute the film.

– Give what you can

– Tell everyone you know

– Help us spread the word

Thank you and we hope you love the film as much as we do.
